Our Story
Here’s a little bit of information about us and our journey!
We bought Greystoke House in 2018 after a five-year search for the perfect fit for our family. Along with our two children and Betty the Labrador, we made the move from our teaching jobs in Yorkshire.
Emma was originally from Carlisle, so we visited the area many times over the years, camping at Castlerigg or at sites along Eskdale or staying with Emma’s Dad.
We are passionate about the outdoors and make the most of it whenever our business allows. With our extensive knowledge of the area, we are always happy to offer advice and guidance on local walks and activities.
As a small, family-run bed and breakfast, we take pride in our attention to detail and strive to provide you with a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Free super-fast WiFi is available in all guest rooms and common areas.
Just scan the QR code or enter the password when you arrive to get connected.
Dog Friendly
We welcome up to two well behaved dogs in each of our rooms. All we ask is that they are kept on a lead in the house.
Unfortunately, due to space, we don’t allow dogs in the dining room, but they can be left in rooms while you eat.
Breakfast
Emma’s delicious breakfasts will set you up for the day whether you choose a full Cumberland breakfast or one of our vegetarian / vegan or lighter options. Special diets can also be catered for and locally sourced produce is served whenever possible.
Check-In / Check-Out
Self-Check-In is available from 2pm – full instructions how to do this are sent out a few days before arrival.
Personal Check-In can be arranged between 4pm & 8pm – please contact us for confirmation.
