Our Location

Tucked away in a quiet residential area, Greystoke House is conveniently located just a short walk from all amenities and the town centre.


Please note: We do not have any dedicated parking, however there are usually spaces in the streets nearby.

Easily accessible by Bus, or Car, Keswick is situated close to junction 40 of the M6 just north of Lancaster and South of Carlisle.

If you’re travelling from the South, theres a scenic route which takes you through the main areas of the Lake District. Leave the M6 at J36 (Kendal) and take the A591 via Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere.

As you descend into Keswick and pass the War Memorial on your right, turn left into Station Street (just before the traffic lights) and immediately left again into Southey Street. Take a left turn (past Dorchester House) onto Helvellyn Street and at the next junction, you will see us diagonally to your right.

It is also easy to access Keswick via train / bus from Penrith – regular bus services depart from the station throughout the day.

A variety of walks can begin diretly from our front door! Derwentwater is approximately 10 minutes away, Castelrigg Stone Circle (1Hour),

Ashness Bridge via Walla Crag (1 1/2Hours), Skiddaw (3 1/2Hours).

 

Directions by Road

 Road from Penrith (M6 junction 40) (17.0 mi. / 27.4 km)

  1. From Junction 40 of the M6 at Penrith take the A66 towards Keswick.
  2. Take the A591 turning heading towards Keswick/Windermere, at the T-junction turn right towards the town centre.
  3. At the War Memorial, take a double left turn into Southey Street.
  4. Continue along, taking the 3rd left turn on to Helvellyn Street.
  5. Take the next right turn onto Leonard Street and we are just on the left.

We don’t have any parking, but you may be able to find somewhere in the streets close by. Please also try to be considerate to our neighbour by not parking across his driveway.

For an alternative scenic route coming from the South, leave the M6 at junction 36 and take the A591 through Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere and follow the instructions from instruction 3 above.

Directions by Train

 Train from Penrith (North Lakes) (17.0 mi. / 27.4 km)

The nearest railway station to Keswick is Penrith, on the West Coast Main Line.
A bus service, taking approximately forty minutes, connects Penrith Station with Keswick Bus Station. Please check on https://www.stagecoachbus.com/plan-a-journey for timetables.
You could even hire a PAYG low emission car at Penrith Station!

Walking Directions From Keswick Bus Station

 By Bus / Coach – Walk from Keswick Bus Station (0.5 mi. / 0.8 km)

  1. Walk past Booths and on to Tithebarn Street towards the town centre crossing the road when you reach ‘Podgy Paws’.
  2. At the roundabout, turn right and head along Main Street towards the Market Square.
  3. Continue up the square and head towards the left-hand side of the Moot Hall.
  4. Turn left on to Station Street until you reach the junction with Penrith Road.
  5. Sharp right turn onto Southey Street (down the side of Cumbria Cottages).
  6. Take the third left onto Helvellyn Street then turn right onto Leonard Street.
    You will see us diagonally opposite.
